We focus on improving the quality of life within the communities within which we operate by partnering with the key stakeholders to build, refurbish and improve basic infrastructure facilities required within the community such as schools, hospitals, boreholes, among others. Initiatives under this pillar include:
- In FY17/18, Centum Foundation, in partnership with the Nairobi City County, completed the building of the New Mathari Primary School. The project was funded by our Two Rivers Development Project at a cost of KES 180 million. The facilities in the newly built school includes 32 classrooms in G+1 blocks, administration block, library, science and computer labs, social hall, kitchen, dining area, walkways, awnings open spaces and interaction points, among others. The project increased the capacity of the school from 8 to 36 classrooms resulting in an increased capacity from 994 students to 1,920 students and created employment opportunities for 18 new teachers due to the increased number of students.
- During the year, we also completed the refurbishment of the Timboni and Makonde Primary Schools in Kilifi County at a total cost of KES 8 million, funded by our Vipingo Development Project.
