We deeply believe that education is a critical element required to empower communities to break-out of the poverty cycle. We provide a holistic 8-year scholarship programs (from secondary to tertiary education) to students from public primary schools who score more than 350 marks in KCPE. The scholarship program also includes one-to-one mentorship, internship opportunities and community give-back programs. Our initiatives under this pillar include:
- We currently sponsor a minimum 50 students per year in Kilifi County funded by our Vipingo Development Project Fund
- 5 students per year in Alliance High School
- 2 students per year under our partnership with Education for All Children (EFAC), a public charitable trust.
In FY17/18 we sponsored over 100 students across the country amounting to a total of KES 5.2 million and we aim to sponsor a total of 300 students by 2019 amounting to a total of KES 50 million (cumulative). During our annual prize-giving and scholarship award ceremony for all our scholarship beneficiaries, held in December 2017 at Pwani University, the Centum Foundation in partnership with Longhorn Publishers (a subsidiary of Centum Investments Company plc) donated a total of 3,000 textbooks to the students valued at over KES 4 million.
